Tea fields spreading across Shizuoka Prefecture, the largest producer of tea in Japan, are dotted with traditional "chagusaba" that are cut to cover the tea plantations. Immerse yourself in the charm of Japanese tea in this special region.

Shizuoka's Traditional Tea Plantation Farming Method is recognized as Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems: GIAHS in 2013. This is a farming method found uniquely in Shizuoka Prefecture. It not only aims for the high-quality production of tea but also contributes to the conservation of rich biodiversity.

1 Day Tea Experience 10:00 ~ 14:00

Since the period of high economic growth, changes in consumer lifestyles have led to a decline in green tea consumption as well as the increase of abandoned tea fields. Enjoy a tea-picking experience in a regenerated tea field, now an organic tea plantation while having a view of Mt. Fuji.

If the weather is nice, trail hike about 30 minutes from the tea plantation to the top of the mountain is recommended! Just before reaching the goal,guests can visit "Iwakura," a group of huge in the primeval forest where legend has it that a god descended in ancient times.Recharge your energy here!

Guests arrive at the terrace overlooking the panoramic view of tea fields, Suruga Bay and the Southern Alps. Mt.Fuji and Izu Peninsula can also be seen in the distance on a clear day.Lunch is an original special meal with a spectacular view.Fried tempura made from the leaves you.

After the meal, brew your own cup of delicious steamed tea for a more delicious experience.

On the way from Tokyo to Kyoto by Shinkansen bullet train, you can get off at Kakegawa station and have this experience in Kakegawa.
